Heart and Cardiovascular system have been given prime importance in Ayurveda science. Heart is stated as one of the places where Prana(vitality) is seated and is the place for Oja (essence of life). Hence it is imperative to have diet, lifestyle and exercise which is beneficial for wellbeing of heart, so longevity of life can be promoted.

Coronary heart diseases are one of the leading causes of death worldwide and the frequency of incidence are growing day by day. At Alleviate we follow over 5000-year-old Ayurveda modalities, which are extremely effective in supporting and improving the overall Heart Health

The program provides two approaches for management and support of heart health

Preventative approach:

constitutes of comprehensive Ayurveda therapies, diet management, herbs, breathing exercise and yoga, which helps to keep check on all the risk factors indicated for heart diseases; like levels of cholesterol, amino acids, blood pressure and normal functioning of platelets. By combination of above strong heart health and vessels can be established. Individualsare educated on healthy and unhealthy habits for keeping optimum heart condition. For the healthy functioning of heart, one musteschew stress, mental agony and depression as the turbulence in emotions brings negative effect on heart.

We suggest some heart healthy food as prescribed in Ayurveda like:

  • Aged rice
  • Green gram
  • Barley
  • Bitter gourd
  • Gooseberry

Avoid unhealthy diet/ products and activities

  • Excessive oil in food
  • Excess of sour and salt taste in diet for e.g. regular consumption of pickles, tomato ketch up and vinegar-based dips.
  • Consumption of food products which are heavy to digest
  • Consumption of astringent taste- products with oxalates and preservatives.
  • Excessive physical exertion- overdoing exercise and work.
  • Excessive exposure to sun
  • Excessive indulgence in sex
  • Excess of unhealthy thinking, stress, agony

Curative and Supportive Approach:

Diabetes, high blood pressure, high serum cholesterol, stress, hereditary, excessive smoking, improper diet and lifestyles are the reasons held responsible for heart diseases. In Ayurveda, it is extensively explained as imbalances amongst three Doshas, whichare accountable for heart diseases. There are 5 kinds of heart diseases mentioned in Ayurveda and most common cardinal symptoms which indicate heart diseases are

  • Discoloration
  • Fainting or loss of consciousness for a moment
  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Hiccough
  • Shortness of breath, difficulty in breathing
  • Feeling of abnormal taste in mouth
  • Thirst
  • Confusion
  • Vomiting
  • Excess of phlegm coming in mouth
  • Chest pain
  • Feeling no taste in food

With early finding of above factors and recognition of dominant vitiated Dosha or Doshas helps in bringing balance in Doshas through herbs and Ayurveda therapies and is the key step in management of heart diseases.
